by Mister Biggs inironically, we were discussing the watchman who stays awake night and day.. anyway, something was said that made me awaken and pay careful attention.
please, if anyone else who got this same information at their book study, please share it.. here goes:.
there was a picture of a man standing on the watchtower keeping on the look out.

JW Blood Ban Checklist: Can Anyone Help Here?
by Room 215 ini was thinking mainly of lee elder, but it seems that that a concise, user-friendly list of the permissible/prohibited blood fractions of current jw policy would be more than a mere convenience... it has life-saving potential!
the mere fact that the watchtower does not see fit to clear the air and print a simple summary of the current blood fraction policy in a ``question from readers'' article or something.. their failure to do so thus far speaks volumes as to how little regard they have for the lives of their drones especially of the children who, in view of the stagnation of the organization, are the society's most promising -- and maybe only -- source of future growth.
brooklyn seems to prefer distributing ``no blood'' cards to the flock and apparently has no interest in clarifying a matter they alone have obfuscated by their confusing and often contradictory rhetoric.

How many here are still active JWs? If not.....
by Leander inwhen did you leave?.
what prompted you to doubt/leave the organization?.
for those who are still active, do you plan on leaving soon?

Hi Leander,
My situation isn't a whole lot different than yours except none of my family are baptized JWs. My husband is a fervent believer in everything they teach. He hasn't mentioned becoming baptized but it would not surprise me if he does this year. We studied with the witnesses for many years and even behaved as the average dub but I (and I think my husband, as well) never felt quite "ready" to take the plunge. I, personally, feel like baptism is serious business...and I was never willing, I suppose, to commit to that.
Anyhow, I had read many negative things about the org but made excuses for them and justified their reasoning on certain doctrines/rules in my own mind...because I needed to believe that I had finally found "the truth". But deep down, I think I knew all along. It wasn't until I read the whole UN mess and silentlambs.org, that I snapped out of it, and took a good long look at all the things I had been taught and all the "negative" things I had read. And I'm still looking...
I too, am having a hard time believing in the bible at this point, as well. Just one small reason being, if this was truly God's word how is it so many can find different "truths" within...and we are supposed to just "know" whose truth to listen to. You'd think that, especially considering the consequences of being wrong (annihilation, destruction), that our "loving" heavenly Father could've made things a little more easier and plainer for us to understand. There are a ton of other reasons why my faith in the bible has began to dwindle but too many to go into here.
My husband is still going to the meetings, it seems now (since I did a u-turn) more so than ever. I don't go at all...except when he gives a talk. We have children and we have reached a fair compromise concerning them. So, we are working through this. It is awkward and hard at times, however. I believe he knows the truth about the truth, deep down, but he isn't ready to let it go. I think we all have to work that out for ourselves.
I wish you the best.

Proof of the "historical" Jesus...
by simwitness inbeen wondering about this lately.... what proof (outside the bible, of course) do we have for the "historical jesus"?.
in my earlier days (post jw to "born again christian") i remember reading that the one thing that differentiates christianity vs. "all the others" was that we had secular historical proof that there was a man that was called jesus, who died on a cross and was resurrected.
now i am wondering just what that proof is/was?

One thing I've always been curious about was the wise men from the east, who followed the star.
Has there been anything written in Eastern History about this?
I would think that would be a notable thing. It does seem as though there would be some sort of documentation (besides that found in the bible) about the kings who carried gifts to a child that they had found by following a star to a stable. I mean, that is the kind of stuff that fables and folk stories that you hand down through generations is made of...if nothing else, it seems as though there would be a story about it in their culture.
Does anyone know if there is any such "story" or documentation in the Orient?

by sleepy inare jw's going to turn into a basicly 3rd world religion?.
hardly any new converts in western land , and lots of children leaving or not taking it seriously.. people in pourer countries need a hope , lack education , and maybe look up to people in western lands and their ideas.. so will bethel soon be in africa?

They blew their chance for an easy entry into African politics when they DFed a Zambian presidential candidate last year. Just think, if he'd not been DFed AND had won, they'd have had a chance to become the national religion!
They had to do that. The bible tells us that the road leading to everlasting life will be narrow...not many will be on that road. If an entire nation were to become Jehovah's witnesses, and they were to increase in status to the point of being a top religion, then they couldn't lay claim to be being the ones that Jehovah was using in the last days. I have even heard admission by fellow dub that if they were ever to become a "popular" religion, then he would know that Jehovah wasn't using this org. I think the guys in charge realize that they can't become too big. Anyhow, that just my 2 cents.

by seven006 ini started on some research to expose the cult that xenu is trying to sneak on to this board "raelians" and i think i might have come across something that will be of interest to all of you.
i will address the information that exposes xenu's cult the raelians in another thread but at this time i wanted to bring this very interesting information on this thread to see if anyone has heard of this.

Is that what Censur is the acronym for?
I didn't know (and I believe that I stated that I didn't). As I said, I didn't know if that link would be useful to this issue or not...I just thought I would provide it for those who wanted to see it and could read french (as I admitted I could not).
Now the Centre for the Study of New Religious Movements
Still have that knack for twisting words, huh? Who said they were? I admitted in my previous post that I had no idea who they were or what their purpose was. I even went so far as to ask.

Here is a cesnur link that mentions FIREPHiM. I'm not quite sure I understand what you are saying about Cesnur. What is it? Did it replace FIREPHiM? The link is in French, so I could not completely understand the whole page. For some reason my browser would only translate half the page. I have no idea if this link has any relevance to this issue but it seemed to. Hope it helps.

Wow, Plmkrzy...you really did some research!! Interesting stuff indeed.

Child abuse policy
by Smitty inthe pope is considering adopting a child abuse policy similar to jw's.
they've already accepted the policy of 'one strike youre out'.
now they're considering applying it to those cases that involve pass offences.

The Pope is considering adopting a child abuse policy similar to JW's
How did you get that out of this article??? It made absolutely no mention or implied that the Catholic Church would be adopting a child abuse policy similar to the dubs.
The only thing that I could see where someone might get that out of it IF they really wanted was where it said:
But distinguishing an actual crime from an allegation remained a thorny issue. “How do you handle it when someone comes up and says someone has done something wrong?” one of the participants, Cardinal Edward Egan of New York, asked Wednesday morning.
“Do you immediately walk away from that person? Can you [presume] that he is accused and therefore he is guilty? How do you approach it?” he asked reporters.
“Well, one bishop may say, ‘I think he is a pretty fine fellow, and I want to look into this before I make any decision.’ Another might say, ‘I want to send him away for psychological studies to see what experts say,’ ” Egan said.
“That would be one of the things we have to figure out, and I don’t think you can vilify either position,” said Egan, who is accused of having transferred pedophile priests from parish to parish when he was in an earlier post in Connecticut.

Who are the "Witnesses of Je'hovah"?
I did a search on it and it returned no results and asked me if I meant witnesses of jehovah. So, I clicked on "witnesses of Jehovah" and the only results that turned up were links to Jehovah's Witness sites. I've never heard of this sect called witnesses of je'hovah.Chasson, is there any way one might go about translating that link you submitted into English. I can't figure it out. Is there a translation function in the browser menu (i'm using ie)?
Plmkrzy, in one of the articles that I read, it was my understanding that they (scientologists) were denying that they were/are registered with FIREPHiM. It was the bottom link on my last post ( http://www.religio.de/atack/intelli.html). Here's the quote from the article:
With reference to minority groups, Scientology has allied itself with other totalist groups ("cults") including the Unification Church, or Moonies and the Children of God (Family of Love). Scientology officials deny the registration in Strassbourg in December 1992 of FIREPHIM. This was allegedly a pact between the Moonies, COG, the Jehovah's Witnesses, the Raelians and even the Bah '.
